



Principal's Message
Roxburgh Rise Primary School opened January 2005 and is situated in Roxburgh Park, a relatively new residential suburb in the City of Hume, approximately 20km north of Melbourne CBD. The school opened with an enrolment of 114 students and has grown to a current a current enrolment of 640+ students, the vast majority from non-English speaking backgrounds. With the Greenvale Lakes estate developing to the west of the school it’s envisaged that the school will grow to 750+ students over the coming years. The school employs 67 staff, which includes 3 Principal Class, 48 teachers and 16 Education Support Staff.
Roxburgh Rise Primary is a modern well equipped school with sixteen permanent multi-purpose teaching and learning areas, as well as ten relocatable classrooms, eight of which are enclosed within a newly constructed Learning Gallery. Other impressive facilities include a music room, library, art and craft room, canteen, full sized gymnasium, ICT centre, community learning centre and comprehensive administration area. The school has been constructed with attractive landscaped, passive and playing areas, as well as modern sporting facilities. The school is a member of the Hume Schools’ Network.
Through its values of Community Spirit, Teamwork, Honesty, Respect and Excellence, Roxburgh Rise Primary School is committed to providing students with opportunities to become successful lifelong-learners. We aim to provide a high quality, comprehensive curriculum that improves student learning in a safe, caring and challenging environment. Varied and extensive intervention programs cater for student needs in an effort to improve educational outcomes.
The school employs a range of Education Support Staff, including a psychologist, speech pathologist, school nurse, integration and teacher aides, who work with dedicated teachers to provide a happy and engaging learning environment that enables students to develop their social competencies, resilience and self esteem. All staff are committed to delivering a quality curriculum that is rich, safe, challenging and ‘hands on.’ This is exemplified through our Personalised Learning strategy and 1-to-1 Netbook program.
2011 school achievement data indicates that we are achieving at or above like schools. Our staff, parents and students are very satisfied with the school, as reflected in statewide Staff, Parent & Student survey results, where levels of satisfaction are well above the state mean in most areas.
